About D. Watters Funeral Services

Established in 1967, D. Watters Funeral Services has over 56 years experience serving the local community in times of bereavement, with the skills and expertise necessary in professionally arranging and carrying out funerals with a high degree of attention to detail and dignity.

We are an independent Family funeral business, professionally qualified and based in Tobermore, Magherafelt. Desmond and Marion Watters started the business in 1967 and their daughter Helen Badger N.A.F.D., Dip.F.D., B.I.E. joined as a partner in 2005. Desmond continued alongside Helen to fulfil a very active role in serving the bereaved in
our community with the utmost professionalism and dignity. However, in February 2021, Desmond, the founder of
D. Watters Funeral Services sadly passed away. Our Family business will continue to be his legacy, continuing
the standards he set and held over his lifetime. Desmond's Granddaughter Kristy joined the business as a partner in 2021, after completing her BSc (Honours) Nursing Degree, and now works alongside her Mum, Helen. She is also a Student Member of the B.I.E.

1970s hearse

The original hearse used in D. Watters Funeral Services is in excellent working order, having been kept well covered in a garage and serviced regularly. It is one of the only original 1970’s hearses in the UK.

Desmond and his hearse made an appearance in the movie “Mickybo and Me”.
